The Neighborhood Knows Songtext
A man out walking his dogs,
Said he saw something upon the leaves,
I heard he told his wife,
Then he went to the police,

Who should I see walking around town,
The next day asking questions about me,
An inspector and two PCs,
Where was I last Tuesday at 3,
A jogger said he saw me standing there,
He heard a woman crying please,
Well we will see,

The neighborhood knows,
Yeah the neighborhood knows,

I got asked to go with them,
To the Hull station,
They said they wanted to ask me a few questions,
They seemed to know about my probation,

They asked me questions all night and all day,
I was calm for the duration,
But I have to say it was a farce,
What they called an interrogation,

I can't remember what I did say,
But it wasn't relevant in any way,
The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,

But I have to say,
I was released,
No charges made,
They had nothing on me,

That jogger well he disappeared,
I got an alibi from a man named Weems,
He said he saw me on the Portland roads,
Miles away from the crime scene,

I'm sure that I'm not guilty,
And if you know better,
Please tell me,

The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,
Yeah the neighborhood knows,

The residents are still twitching,
The police are still watching,
The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,
The neighborhood knows,
