Sun Don't Shine Songtext
Well she said that I would find her
At a ten cent diner by the tracks at a hundred and third.
And as I order my coffee
I can see that it's obvious she's hanging on my every word.
But she don't care about strangers and the unsaid danger
Coz she's living in the in between.
Coz she could take her last breath from the hands of death
And get away if you know what I mean.

Well her daddy was a man who didn't give a god damn
Whether mamma liked him much or not
And the scars on his face showed a time and a place
That he wishes that she might have forgot
But she don't cry anymore when he comes through the door
She's just happy that he made it home
Coz they're raising a son with a knife and a gun
But I guess that's the way that it goes

And she says the sun don't shine, the sun don't shine for me
What did you think I'd mean?
I said the pain don't stop; I'm a cancer can't you see
The sun don't shine, the sun don't shine for me
And it's just a fallacy
But when the rain don't stop then don't mess around with me

Well her brother got arrested and the jury requested
that the man go down to the row
And as he's standing in line for his turn and his time
that he'll meet on up with the lord
He says, ?The finders keep and the losers weep,
and I'm on my last defense
And I may be a fake with a thousand mistakes
but I'm a man who is innocent?

Well the rain don't stop for the beat of the clock when the beat of the clock is my heart
And the messenger died from the tension and pride and the pieces that pulled him apart
And the walls won't speak but I don't need them standing in the way
Coz taking my time is a way to collide with everyone today
