So We Swim Songtext
She asked me
Where the water was so we could jump in
I said to her, "It's 4 a.m., and I'm tired as hell
But you guessed my birthday wish"
The bay is cold, the night is warm, the air is paper-thin
I said to me, "Is this the night that my whole life begins?"
And so we swim
We set up camp in Davenport beside the cliffside edge
And I started talkin' in my sleep and got up to the ledge
Where the water was so we could jump in
I said to her, "It's 4 a.m., and I'm tired as hell
But you guessed my birthday wish"
The bay is cold, the night is warm, the air is paper-thin
I said to me, "Is this the night that my whole life begins?"
And so we swim
We set up camp in Davenport beside the cliffside edge
And I started talkin' in my sleep and got up to the ledge
She spoke with sweetness in her voice, through my stubborn head
And lеft me with the dream, shе'd be the one to share my bed
And so it went
We're laughin' as we're headed south through Oregon trees
And Cannon Beach is littered head to toe with people I can't see
I wanna wrap her in my arms and cut off all the leaves
'Cause we may not get to fall before I get down on my knee
So I can breathe
She knows me like the morning knows to wake the day
Better than a nomad or a pilgrim, or a poet knows a train
And I know that I'll still love her even when I'm old and grey
Maybe by that time we'll both have grown up all the way to try again
