Pollsmoor Prison Blues Songtext
There's a dog taking a nap in my shower
there's a ghost on the elevator ride
there's a warden in my head that wants to slumber
on a Botswanan dune hill top's where I'll defy
In a police van going downhill to my jail cell
I hope for gravity to suck us all inside
they took my gun and gum and left it at the station
I'll recollect it after seven years of hard time
If they don't turn all the way open the gas
I won't be suffocating as Jacob Zuma asks
ek se jou brother there's but one way out of the wrath
some day I'll shoot open all the road
for all my proletarians

There's only silence in the night after the knife fights
when the wardens crawl up from the toilet bowl
there's no equality in the quantity of stabbings with knives
from the bowl over the bars they're making circles against the wall
there is no longing for a god if it's life you defy
I'll collect it after seven years of time
this is the ghost on the elevator of homicide
and I am the dog taking a nap in the shower

Having faith here can be a somersault
but unbelieving is living closer to the ground
the right wing turns to a system that makes gold
by changing crooks into aeronauts

In a police van going uphill to the courthouse
I hope for gravity to suck us all inside
they took my crimes and rights and left them at the station
I'll recollect them after seven years of time
if they don't turn open the gas
I won't be sufficating as Apartheid asks
ek se jou sister there's but one way out
some day I'll shoot open all the roads
for all my proletarians
