Oregon Songtext
Oregon Coast
I hit a pub
Shot a rum
And a Henny and Coke
I saw a man, 81 maybe 74
Said, "What's up?"
Got a beer, started making a toast

I told him I was on the road
Working my ass off
So one day I can kick back
Sit and relax more
He did a little laugh
Now he's laughing his ass off
He leaned in close 'bout to give me a crash course

"You want a story, son?
It ain't long
Won't last 'til the morning comes
I know I look a little rough, but
I'm off the drugs
Let me tell you 'bout my life
Won't cost you none"
I said, "go ahead"

I was born in a small town
Living was easy
And nobody was needy
It was happiness all around
My cousin would visit me from the city
And tell me about the wealthy and busy

'Bout the money and women and clubs
Company dinners and drugs
"You can have a big house
Chef in the kitchen, what's up?"

I was just simple and young
Fishing and living it up
Did a little work but I guess I just did what I want

Anyway, I figured I would try out a new place
And find me a good job
Hustle and get paid
There's money to get made

Grind going into the nighttime
A little stressed out, marijuana and white wine
Step by step on the ladder I climb up
Wishing I was home, on a hike or a bike ride

I was living in the fast life. Getting this cash right.
Noticing it came with a bad price

5, 10, 20 years pass me by
And that grind shit ran me dry
I made M's, in the field I was in so it felt like time
To retire and kick back and relax my mind

And so I moved to a small town
Living was easy
Wasn't nobody needy; there was happiness all around

Now I was simple and old
Thinking this living was low
Just to come right back to a familiar home

Ain't it a trip, though?
I could have been living like this, though
Lakehouse good as it gets, though
Before you hit the road
Make sure that what you covet is better than what you own
Just wanted to let you know
