An Act Songtext
Why go through the motions when it's so clear
You intend to never follow through
Smiling wide while leading on and over hours
Up until the morning breaks
True to form you leave with comforting words to send me on my way
Now sing the waiting song while counting days
Reality creeps its way in
And throws a slap to the face of
The weakling, the gullible, the hermit who pretends no to know
Creating excuses to numb away the obvious lack of interest
Steady substance intake
Floating through, but sinking in the long run
And running out
So sing the desperate song, losing count of years
Reality sinks it's teeth in
Down to the bone
How can it be so easy for you to look like you care
When all you ever do is lead on
It's acting
I'll always play the part of the lonely hypocrite
When I turn around and do the same to another
I'll do the same
The monster, the despicable
My selective sympathy
Not even sure what I've become
I'm a walking contradiction
You must thrive on pain when the sorrow outweighs the smile
You dine on heart when it's always in your throat
How can it be so easy for me to feel like I care
When all I ever do is lead on
I'm acting
I'll always play the part of the lonely hypocrite
When I turn around and do the same to another
