a flammarion woodcut Songtext
Its all rags, and there is nowhere to run.
But there is someone in town and he is cutting the ropes!
"What am i?
What could i be?" The drop screamed to the sea.
"and can the canopy, see the fallen twigs?
The stars came down to dance tonight.
My folly is memory, but i believe they'll shine with me.
my tiny eyes are in surrender.
and i have a voice...but they sing too, and i have hands...just like they do.
a drop, a grain, a strand, a twig, ill crush under all this weight.
Oh God i've never felt quite this small before.
does my cry for reason fall on deaf ears?
she said there is to many pieces to gather up.
But oh sister the chains will he break! For the slave is our brother,
and in His eyes there is no disdain!
and in His name all oppression will cease!
