They sat around the table all night, talked it over one last time
She's thinking, â??I can't go through with this, I'm fucking petrifiedâ?
Now its getting hard to breathe, she looks at the other three, is this noble or naá¯ve?
No going back this time...

Tepidly nine months back, she says she's got this thought
And her heart had skipped a beat or two when the idea caught
She goes: they get profits, we get chains, in 10 years nothing'll remain, and they have addresses and names,
We've gotta take it up a notch
Fear and doubt assail her
Now it's all come down to this
By the time night falls tomorrow
They'll be on everybody's list
As either heroes or worse than scum
Can't believe what she's become
They always told her to stand tall
What is moral and what is law

There's still a chance to back out now
She could tell them what she feels
It was all so clear the months before
But now she's questioning her ideals
She looks fretfully at her friends
And they share a nervous grin
Someone's gotta draw a line
There's no going back this time...

The police came in at 5am, stormed through the door
Hardly a chance to panic, guns drawn like it's war The cops had everything on tape, it was an open and shut case, she feels this moment of disgrace
As they throw them on the floor

Amidst the confusion that ensues, her friends catch her eye
And in her glance they see it all, distraught they realize
The sting successful and complete they uncuff her on the street, the past 9 months of deceit,
No going back this time...

Fear and doubt assail her
Now the cops all start to leave
She gets warm congrats from the boys in blue
Is this noble or naá¯ve? They take the kids away
Their eyes pleading in dismay
They always told her to stand tall
What is moral and what is law

And the sun rises in the Foothills
It's a clear California day
The city wakes up for the morning commute
As she slowly walks away
How can you leave it all behind
Where do you start to justify
Once you walk across that line
No going back this time
