Thank God For The Evening News Songtext
Lying on the corner as the pavement turned red
With his last breath, he said to his son, "Work hard, and you'll get ahead."
And even then with the O2 mask wrapped around his head
Says he'll be up and about if you want to
Help him out of bed

But you can't believe everything you hear
And you can't believe everything you see
Like White House press conferences about freedom and about democracy
I seen blurry vision
I seen slurred explanations
I seen false advertising and wholesale degradation
So many people lost 'cause they got bad directions
Nothing seems familar and that's the only connection

What are looking for and what do we see?
The truth in our misery, or maybe in our sympathy
We can stare at each other for years and never, never see a thing
We can hit all the notes but that don't mean we can see

But you can't believe everything you hear
And you can't believe everything you see

But thank God for the evening news
Thank God for radio
Thank God for Wall Street

I seen blurry vision
I seen slurred explanations
I seen false advertising and wholesale degradation
So many people lost 'cause they got bad directions
Nothing seems familar and that's the only connection
