I heard it from down stairs

I think he went down there

I lit a cigarette
I called you up on the telephone

Someone made a big mistake
And now the cops are coming
Sirens scorched the city streets
Now everybody's running from the law

I can't believe this has happened
That man must be a wretch
I bet he burned up the evidence
I bet there's nothing left

There was a fire out my window
