Shorelines Songtext
like a shipwreck, i was lost at sea.
inbetween the crests of waves, they abandoned me.
so i swam to shore, and made a bed with all the seashells below my feet.
now the wind is howling on my face, and it's coming down tonight

i don't know if i can be the stars in which you use to navigate.
it seems i'm so far away.
i'm like a torn down lighthouse
the stairs lead up, but nobody's there to be found.
my walls are crumbling down, and the shoreline sleeps alone.

i watched as the ocean filled the gaps
and swallowed the tracks i left in the sand.
now i've nowhere to go, and nowhere to call my home,
but you let me in.
she lived in the city, where all the lights danced
like fireflies in the night.
she said i could stay, and that my songs would pay my way through this life.
i hope she's right.

our hands were made in pairs for a reason
so i could hold yours in mine.
and our arms were made in pairs for a reason
so i could keep you close to me.
and our legs were made in pairs for a reason
so you could wrap yours around me as we fall asleep.
and i'll be damned if i shrug it off and let it just go to waste.
