Rental Property Songtext
Had a lot of coats hanging in my hallway

Had a lot of shoes sitting at my door

Had a lot of feet that slipped back in them

And went in search of something more

Had a lot of lips sippin' at my teacups

Borrowing my bed for a month or two

I was their home till the rent ran dry

Or they felt like something new

I don't wanna be rental property no more

Heart after heart taking out a lease on me

I'm taking down the sign

Boarding up my door

Cause I don't wanna be rental property no more

They always bring their best intentions

And all their baggage from the past

For a time I am their haven

Thinking this time it will last

They flick a switch and just like fire

Fill me with the love I lack

They re-arrange what is inside me

Then leave without putting it back

I don't wanna be rental property no more

Strangers at my parties, neighbours always banging at my door

Tenants grow to know me then they leave me feeling emptier than before

No I don't want to be rental property

They're always in such a hurry to go

Is there something about me I should know?

I tell myself they just need a better view

But there is no better view when somebody loves you

I don't wanna be rental property no more

Heart after heart taking out alease on me

I'm taking down the sign

Boarding up my door

Cause I don't wanna be rental property no more

No I don't wanna be rental property no more
