Relativity (Come September) Songtext
Midnight marks another year gone by
Hear the bottle rockets scream across the sky
Everybody's on an Auld Lang high
Like there's never been a night like this before
Laughing with my friends from out of town
Playing music loud enough to shake the ceiling down
Swearing we'll do better this time around
And writing resolutions to ignore

But you can't strap time to your wrist
And you can't nail it to the wall
It'll burn us down like candles in a heartbeat
As Spring turns into Summer turns to Fall

In a week the year is not so new
Back to business like we always do
Have a minor battle with the flu
But that won't slow me down for very long
Then the weather warms a bit too soon
Then I go from March to May and June
Check to see my watch is still in tune
And the calendar must certainly be wrong

But you can't strap time to your wrist
And you can't nail it to the wall
Relativity is more than just a concept
As Spring turns into Summer turns to Fall

Come September and I always find
Halloween is never far behind
Barely get the Autumn leaves in mind
When it's Christmastime and snow is on the ground
Midnight marks another year gone by
Hear the bottle rockets scream across the sky
Everybody's on an Auld Lang high
Like there's never been a night like this before

But you can't strap time to your wrist
And you can't nail it to the wall
It'll burn us down like candles in a heartbeat
As Spring turns into Summer turns to Fall
You can't strap time to your wrist
And you can't nail it to the wall
Relativity is stronger than a sundial
As Spring turns into Summer turns to Fall
