Old Josh Anthem Songtext
I wanted to write a slow song
I wanted to sing in stark delicate moods
I wanted to sigh at the end of a record
I wanted to cry and call it the blues

But I never like the songs with one chord
They say they make you think
But they never cease to make me bored
And I can't endure
When an override, sad sack chorus gets ignored

I used to walk like Otis Redding
I used to swing and sway to his beat
I used to scream and squeal like a trumpet
I used to sing like a Hammond B3

That's why I never like the ones with no words
They say they help you see the little things that can't be heard
And that sounds absurd
I hope by now you can see the irony isn't lost on me

And if you listen to a song with no drum line
They say it makes us free
But it sounds to me like it's out of time
But hey I don't mind
It's like that avant-garde modern poetry that doesn't rhyme

So how did you like my slow song?
What did you think of the stark delicate moods?
And how was the sigh at the end of the record?
How was the cry? Would you call it the blues?
How did you like my slow song?
And how did you like my slow song?
Well how did you like my slow song?
And how did you like my slow song?
