But instead I'm carefree cruising
In my grandma's Honda Civic
Yes, the past, well I know it was golden
But the future is coming on
And I'm sad to see you go
But I'm so glad to watch you leave

Well it's just another failed attempt
At a raging success
A lot of uninvited guests
Who like to test the song best

And this one guy
Who used to laugh at me
Back in high school
Who wants to shake my hand and say

"Hey that was dope
your words hit me deep
Where can I get a CD?"
Then he puts his arm around me, tries to sell me some weed

And in the back of my mind
I mean way back behind
All the dignity, and pride
And sleepless nights

There is a place where I hide
All the songs I can't write
Because everytime I try
They never come out right

And I'm sad to see you go
