The Wreck
An uncanny shape Run aground Unsightly interruption Of the shoreline Gleaners come and go From the mass of splintered beams Carrying glass and copper And slip away over the hills The wreck shifts in the surf Its origin and purpose obscure Has it been here from the start? Have I simply failed to see? A slow guilt drips Pooling in my stomach Nothing so decrepit Could be anything but A condemnation A bitter testament To weightless days Selfishly spent Like a child I cannot be trusted The shock of failure Comes in an overwhelming wave Rushing water fills my ears Pulls my lamentations Out to be strewn across the sea Aus Songtexte Mania
