Foxfires

One Coin
I watched my heroes die I wish that I could say That I was speaking figuratively (It's the difference between Sympathy and empathy). The times that I claimed that I would never forget We had another sip, So it could never sink in. Of course the pictures on the walls will remind me that you were there But, each song I'll have to hear the notes will never ring as clear Each story that I read, well, the climax is missing And each memory I recall I imagine that you are listening We all have our secrets and I think that we need them. It's not what you know, but what you don't that keeps us human. We may all have our secrets and perhaps we each need them And perhaps I can't know your pains but perhaps I can feel them “Yes we are all men and yes we will all die” But, while you can look still easterly the sun will always rise. We all have our secrets and I think that we need them. It's not what you know, but what you don't that keeps us human. Do you remember over drinks discussing what had taken place? Or how we could ever try to get this to relate To me, Or you, Or anyone (We were too young). When a raindrop hits our feet it creates but a spot And a dozen raindrops will nurture the dirt So a storm cloud at your back you could let it wash you away But it would seem sometimes you need something to ruin your day.
