dreaming of the city (early demo) Songtext
at dusk, the stars feel awkward.
they're so hesitant to shine.
but late at night when we're all tired and sleeping,
they light the world we leave behind.

lately i've been tailing comets
in a spaceship on TV
while you go out each night
get piss drunk and comment
on how much you mean to me.
there's something i wanna tell you,
but it's difficult to say.
'cause the words sound like a robot under water
when you're so far away.

flood insurance for homes.

if i only had a gutter,
i could catch it when it falls.
but my basement's slowly filling up with water.
it's running down the concrete walls.
you could say it's been a bad year
and you'd be saying something true.
it's almost like a cheap print of a van gogh painting,
one with seven shades of blue.

i've been dreaming of the city.
what a wonderful place to be.
i've been dreaming of the city
but the the city, the city doesn't dream of me.

every day is like a nightmare.
every day is like a sin.
every day i watch the weather.
a low pressure jinx is moving in.

flood insurance for homes
who never think about it
shouldn't be without it, oh no.
