Cold Chicago Shores Songtext
Lake Michigan is cold, seems like it won't warm up forever
But we wore our bathing suits just in case
So we formed a band, played through all the scriptures
And David joined up and played the bass

We know
The lakeshore can feel so alone
But I knew
I would never love anyone as much as you
Jackson is cold, feels like you're walkin' in a tunnel
With walls made of money, crooks, and hope
One day we'll build 'em tall, right up to the heavens
And finally crack the shell of this globe

We know
The ghosts are so hard to let go
But I knew
The world could be changed by a few

It's a home and it's a prison
It's a broken down mission
Filled with saints, prophets, poets, drunks and whores
But its life and all its reasons
Desperate, vibrant seasons
If it's all down to this or something more
Just leave me on these cold Chicago shores

Chicago
Oh oh
Oh oh

And I knew
I would never love anyone as much as you
But we know
Nothing's more broken than home.

It's a home and it's a prison
It's a broken down mission
Filled with saints, prophets, poets, drunks and whores
But its life and all its reasons
Desperate, vibrant seasons
If it's all down to this or something more
Just leave me on these cold Chicago shores
Just leave me on these cold Chicago shores
Oh Oh
