Ball Of Fire Songtext
Late last night I stood out on an empty street
I saw the moon and the stars get swallowed alive
Down across the river I can hear the train whistle
It reminds me of the one that glory used to ride
Every step I have taken in my whole life has led me to this place right here
I refuse to believe its hallowed ground upon which I stand
These days the face in the mirror ain't exactly clear
I wonder how the child has grown into a broken man
I just want to work one day for an honest pay
And forget the echo of cities I have burned
I recall the words I once heard a wise man say
What is learned here cannot be unlearned

Come back to me sunshine
I need to know if you're still there
Come back to me good times
I need to know if you still care

I don't give a damn about all these pretty women
There is only one flower I will ever love
She has left me for the kingdom of heaven
Tonight she sleeps with her God
For so many years I held the winning hand
Now it seems the dealers eyes have grown cold
I gave the best of all my years to Uncle Sam
Now its but a fool's card which I hold
Somewhere somehow far beyond the darkness
The light of love will touch my eyes
And if I do never ever rise from this park bench
In my death I will truly be alive

Come back to me sunshine
I need to know if you're still there
Come back to me good times
I need to know if you still care

Ball of fire
gonna burn down this world
